  • Active in entire state of Florida handling cases in litigation, primarily in the personal injury field,  commercial, including auto liability, premises liability, products liability, professional negligence, general business disputes, and probate.

CONTINENTAL CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANY:

  • Trial attorney with staff legal department. Responsibilities included primarily negligence defense of personal injury cases with the preponderance being in the area of commercial and auto liability and a lesser portion in the area of construction liability, medical malpractice defense and subrogation. The position involved all phases of case litigation through and including trial.

  • Trial attorney with staff legal department.  Responsibilities included negligence defense of personal injury cases including commercial and auto liability.  The position involved all phases of case preparation through and including trial.

KENT INSURANCE COMPANY:

  • Staff attorney with corporate corporate legal department.  Responsibilities involved the defense of claims against both the company and its insured in the areas of personal injury, property loss, fire loss, arson defense, and workers compensation.  This included total responsibility for the cases assigned with independent authority for their preparation and defense  from the date of service through trial.  The position entailed direct responsibility and reporting to the Vice President of Claims and to the President of the company.

PRE-LEGAL PRACTICE

FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT COMPANY

  • Responsibilities included: Preparation, analysis and review of a multi-million dollar legal budget; coordination of subpoena responses; preparation of management reports involving external and internal legal matters, including litigation case status reports, antitrust discovery, litigation discovery in the FPL v. Westinghouse nuclear fuel case, and review of state and federal filings in the area of environmental regulation.
     

  • Licensing Engineer - Responsible for interfacing with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission regarding compliance with regulatory requirements in licensing proposed nuclear facilities and with the NRC Department of Inspection and Enforcement regarding compliance with technical specifications at existing nuclear facilities.
     

  • Engineer - Initially assigned to Miami Division Engineering where duties included system design and operation. In 1973, was assigned to the South Dade District Office as area engineer. In 1974, was selected for a rotation program where my responsibilities included commercial office operations and supervision of crews in the field.
